Color at last. I thought I was going to paint, but I used professional markers instead. Made mistakes, but didn’t mind them too much. I really see this now as a study for a larger piece. It’s a panel I might not have made without the Creative Every Day project/ website. Thank you! This space is a gift, and so are your comments. I may go back into it with some collage elements at some point…
Completed Panel- Kimono Ustrasana
Published by Deborah Santoro
My work deals with themes of human and nonhuman intelligence, and what it means to return home when the nature of home itself is nebulous and undefined. As an interdisciplinary artist with homebases in painting and printmaking, I explore the interstitial spaces between these and other media, relishing the borderlands–the slippage between idea and medium. Lens based ways of looking interact with a fierce love of materiality that echoes the earth itself, and the ways in which humanity interacts with the homeostatic systems that comprise Gaia, the living earth. Mistakes can often lead to good places:)
xx
I think this would look great as a larger piece and I can’t see the mistakes!!!! looks all good to me…xx
Thanks! Some of the black marker ran and smeared when I put a lighter color over it. I should have tested that first. I was thinking of reworking this piece and the next panel will be larger (this is 6X6 inches, tiny for me). Thanks for the comment!
